What private GLP-1 actually costs
Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic — comparing the real monthly cost across UK digital clinics, and why the headline price isn't the lock-in.
25 April 2026 · Allura editors
Every UK digital clinic advertises GLP-1 with the introductory month price. Almost none of them advertise the post-introductory price — which is what you'll actually pay for the next nine months.
The actual cost stack
- Drug cost. Mounjaro 5mg list price is around £140-180/month at private pharmacy rates in 2026.
- Prescriber fee. A GMC-registered prescriber's consultation, typically £20-50/month bundled.
- Aftercare fee. Bloodwork, weight checks, side-effect support. £0-30/month depending on the provider.
- Platform margin. £30-100/month.
A properly priced UK GLP-1 programme should land in the £200-330/month range after the intro month. If a provider is below that range, they are subsidising acquisition and either the drug, prescriber access, or aftercare is being cut. If they are above, you are paying for marketing.
Where the prices diverge
The biggest cost driver is whether the clinic includes bloodwork before the first injection. Some don't — they prescribe based on a self-reported BMI alone. Others run a baseline panel. The latter costs more and is markedly safer.

What we'd want a friend to know
GLP-1 medications are powerful tools but they are not a passive subscription. Side effects are common in the first 6-8 weeks. The clinics that include real human follow-up (rather than async chat alone) cost more for a reason.
